Farewell to JMJ, A true Windsorian
Farewell to 'JMJ' . Purchased new by the old IMPERIAL bus company and spending its entire life serving the good people of Windsor, was finally retired last Sunday with a thank you trip to see what happens to 'lucky' old buses after their lives are over. It started life (Pic 7043) with the A. Moore's Imperial Bus Service in 1979 (see page 10 - Memory Lane) where it stayed until the closure of that company in 1987, passing to White Bus Services a couple of miles down the road in Winkfield.

The tour organised for the White Bus Services Enthusiasts Group (Pic 20a) to the Medstead Depot Omnibus Group's collection (Pics 28a, 30a my dad, 38a me) and the Aldershot and District Omnibus Rescue and Restoration Society on Sunday 2/12 took the Plaxtons bodied Bedford YMT to Hampshire and Surrey after which the 28 year old vehicle will be retired and sold, hopefully into preservation. It would be nice to see it attend rallies in the old A. Moores cream and brown Imperial livery. I took my dad on the trip who got me into both coach driving and photography after he drove for Windsorian Coaches in the 1960's and 70's. He hails from the Aldershot area and he had a great time reminiscing with some of the enthusiasts from Windsor, Windsor Great Park, Slough, Langley and Sunninghill who went on the trip.

It was driven by White Bus Services Geoff Lovejoy and was organised by local bus historian Tony Wright (Pic 40a). For more information about the Enthusiasts Group contact Geoff at White Bus Services. The vehicle affectionately know as JMJ from its registration plate JMJ 633V started its life, spent all its life and has now ended its commercial operating days as a true Windsorian.
